New Drupal Module: Mentions
About three months ago I had this great idea, wouldn't it be fantastic if you could use @username style formatting on Drupal.org to notify other users of comments/issues that may be of interest to them, like on Twitter, surely a module like that wouldn't be too hard, right? I started work on it and got must of it nutted out quite quickly, but then I ran into two issues that I thought would be deal breakers, so I shelved the idea.
Last week I decided to have a look at it again and it turned out that the two issues I had run into where really quite minor and easy to overcome, so I knuckled down and got the module up and running and released the first development release.
Today I have released version 1.0 of the Mentions module, which does everything I wanted it, with the core functionality of tracking @username mentions in Nodes, Comments and Facebook-style Statuses module statuses, the ability to completely customize the input and output patterns ([@username] and @username by default), Views integration, including a default view for tracking users Mentions and much more.
