FileField Paths goes Retro
Retroactive that is.
The latest development builds of FileField Paths have a great new feature: Retroactive changes.
This allows for previously uploaded files to be moved and/or renamed using the latest FileField Paths settings, even if the files where uploaded before you installed FileField Paths.
Admittedly this feature, like most good features, is a little self serving:
FileField Paths was originally written with the intent of solving the problem of file system clutter caused by the Drupal Upload and FileField modules; an issue I ran into on my TheSkinDrop.com website.
Unfortunately, as I didn't get FileField Paths finished before the site went live, the file system clutter was still an issue with the only solution being to move all the files and modify the database by hand.
This did not and does not seem to be an acceptable solution, hence the new functionality.

lol, I was hoping someone else found this a total pain. Horay, no more going through the database and making changes that way to "recover" uploaded files :)
